Opened in 2010, designed and created by chef&owner Coskun Abik. Dunya restaurant has garnered local acclaim as a Mediterranean causal dining experience touched by the fusion of refined urban technique and culturally traditional flavors. Dunya is a word which in eight languages describes the delicate balances of the temporal world. Offering fare inspired by fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients; Dunya Restaurant brings this same delicate balance to a new era of vibrant Mediterranean dishes in an industrial chic setting located in the heart of San Francisco’s Nob Hill District. The décor captures the warmth and feel of Mediterranean hospitality, while a vast floor to ceiling array of local and imported wine bottles is illuminated by blown glass filament pendants; inviting guests to pull up a chair to the full service wine bar. The menu which showcases seafood, game, and vegetarian entrees; features many of the most prominent Mediterranean dishes, as well as selections which have been modernized through the innovation and experience of head chef Coskun Abik. Dinner is served nightly with menu starters including Calamari Palermo, a light and savory saute of Calamari with artichoke, kalamata olives, garlic and basil in a red sauce reduction and Feta Prawns, sautéed in a flavorful pepperoncini,feta cheese white wine based sauce. In addition to the traditional Mediterranean tastes such as Moussaka, a decadent baked casserole of eggplant, potatoes, red bell peppers zucchini and creamy béchamel sauce; Dunya’s vast variety of entrees include local modern favorites. Petaluma Chicken, a half roasted boneless free range chicken on a bed of rice and roasted vegetables in a Roman herb sauce, and Salmon Provencal topped with fennel, leak, spinach and fume blanc. Weekend brunch on both Saturdays and Sundays cater to the sweet and savory tooth alike. Bottomless Mimosas accompany the vast array of benedicts, omelets, Panini’s and scrambles. While the French toast stands alone with fresh fruit and a drizzle of molten chocolate.
